Zimbabwe have confirmed their visit to Bangladesh to play limited-over matches before the start of Bangladesh Premier League in November.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Nazmul Hassan told reporters on Friday that the confirmation was made at International Cricket Council (ICC) Board meeting in Dubai.
“Zimbabwe are coming in the slot that fell vacant due to postponement of Australia’s tour. The series (against Zimbabwe) will end within Nov 18 or 19,” he said.
Opening ceremony of the BPL will be held on Nov 20 while the first match of the tournament will be played on Nov 22.
“They (Zimbabwe) will have to come in the first week of November. Otherwise, it won’t be possible to finish the games. Zimbabwe have confirmed that they are coming,” Hassan said.
“There will be four to five matches. But the numbers of one-days and Twenty20s have not been fixed yet,” he added.
The BCB chief also said many countries had expressed their eagerness to play matches against Bangladesh.
Hassan was confident that the number of matches in Bangladesh’s tour plan would increase.
“We discussed playing matches with many countries. We’ll have to check the schedule to fix the dates. It seems that number of our home games will increase more than those in the FTP (Foreign Tours Programme) and it will be held soon,” he said.
